Paper Doll Design

Some paper is just too pretty and we don't want to cut it - EVER!!   But we must - that is what it is there for!! As Kylie Bertucci says "love it, chop it" !   It's there to be used - and you can always buy more (that we know!!) The papers from the Share What You Love range have some lovely images that you may not want to cut into for fear of cutting through the beautiful flowers.  So don't cut through them!  Cut AROUND them!! For some, fussy cutting is their night mare, but personally I find it quite therapeutic, and rewarding. So, I set about cutting away some of the gorgeous pearl finished  larger flowers, then some smaller ones and then some of the leaves.  These were all green ( Mint macaron, Old Olive and Tranquil Tide) so I needed some pop of colour to go with it.  So then I grabbed another sheet, and cut out the grapefruit grove blossoms, and some of the Rich Razzleberry blooms from another - see there is lots...

This week we are CASEing Patsy Waggoner. We had to pick a card of hers and Copy and Selectively Edit it.  It was such a joy to look through her blog (http://www.stampstodiefor.com/patstamps/) and Pinterest page - I was left with plenty of choices. I picked this one: I was taken by the colours initially and the white space. I wanted to make a card with the same use of white space and colours that popped. Here's what I did with this in mind...... I used the new First Frost from the upcoming Holiday catalogue. This set is gorgeous! Instead of diecuts tucked behind the white panel I stamped in Versamark. The contrast between the colours Blueberry Bushel and Mango Melody really pop. I love the watercolour look of the stamps.  The sentiment is from the Friendly Expression stamp set - don't you love that font!  I added a sprig die cut from vellum to add some texture. Today we are Blog Hopping with talented Alison Solven from Canada. We had to pick a card from the great selection of cards Alison has made and CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) one of them. The one I chose to CASE was this one: I really liked the original stamp set and dies this is made with. For my take on this card,I decided to use clusters of flowers in a variety of colours.  I used new colours Lovey Lipstick, Petal Pink, Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana. The stamp set I used was the Beautiful Bouquet with the sentiment from a couple of different sets. Hi everyone, When thinking about what to do for a challenge over at Stampin' up Colour Challenge, I realised that sometimes we just overthink it, or make it complicated. I can sit for hours playing with this embellishment, this colour combo or that pattern paper trying to get it just right. Sometimes, if we go back to basics, we find simplicity, and room for our creations to just breathe and speak for themselves. The challenge was One colour, One stamp and One sentiment and white if you want. So my first take was to use colour on white.  Beautiful Day stamp to the rescue as it allowed me to add some more colour - I used the new Balmy Blue. The card had that serene feel that I was after and I was able to add some Wink of Stella to give it a bit of bling! I still got to stamp, I still got to colour, and I still got layers!  Simples! We are blog hopping with Linda Cullen today!!  I found plenty of inspiration over at her blog -  https:// www.craftystampin.com/blog/ She has so many posts of beautiful projects I found it hard to just stick to one to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit)! So I did three!!! The first one I saw, the colours just popped from the card.  I changed up the colours, using two of the new colours - Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green and the base is Sea Foam.  The embossing folder I used was Lovely Floral.  This is a dynamic folder, meaning it makes a nice deep impression and can be used Emboss or Deboss (upside down) - this is how I used it. I used the Botanical Bliss stamp set for the flowers, vines and sentiment which were all heat embossed in white. Stampin' Up Colour Challenge JULY #SUcolourchallenge What a vibrant choice of colour we have for this month! Included is one of the new colours - Gorgeous Grape along with Night of Navy and the zing of Lemon Lime Twist. I had a couple of ideas in mind, but went with this floral card using the Perennial Birthday set.  I stamped all the images onto separate card and cut them out.  Then I placed them in the formation I wanted and added some stamped images straight onto the card around them.  I put some cut outs on top of the stamped image to give depth. I added some stamped off "dots" to the centre before stamping my sentiment - also from the set.  Some of the flowers hung off the side, and I thought I would leave them rather than trim them off.   I mounted the floral panel onto Lemon Lime Twist and, with some dimensionals, I added to my card front. I finished it off with Wink of Stella to the flowers, allowing it to "smu...

The days are cooler here so what better way to feel warmer than to make a bright and cheery card - or two! A while ago I sat down and stamped and coloured this gorgeous floral spray from Petal Palette stamp set.  I thought they would be ready for quick cards - and they were! These two cards were made using the new In colours paper and card stock. It is easy to create different looks very easily - you could make a whole series of these and have them on hand ready for any occasion. Very easy to make. Cut a panel for your card front out of the In colour paper (Pineapple punch and Lovely Lipstick were used here). Cut a banner using matching cardstock.  (On the Lovely Lipstick one, I added another strip of coordinating paper for a bit of interest.) Stamp you sentiment either directly onto the cardstock or onto a white strip of cardstock making sure there is room to add your flowers. Assemble by raising the banner on dimensionals, adding ...
