With Sympathy

Today one of my colleagues had to rush from work as she had received the news that he mother had not long to live.

What devastating news!  Even though her mother was elderly and had been unwell, it still comes as a shock.

She dashed to her side and was able to spend another day with her before it was time to say goodbye.

This truly pulled at my heart strings as I, too, have a mother who is  unwell, in hospital, but far away.

The Stampin Up colours of:

Smokey Slate,     Mint Macaron and   Blushing Bride

 made a soothing combination.

I wanted to make a card to express my sympathy for my colleague and her family.

Here's what I made:

When I looked at the finished card it needed a "little something" to lift it.

Wink of Stella to the rescue!

See Wink of Stella here

How had I lived without this product??

A pen with a fine brush nib that allows you to apply a subtle, smooth and quick drying shimmer to your work!  This is a must for every cardmaker!!

A lovely card for a sad occasion.

Today I wanted to challenge myself to try something a  bit different by showing the versatility of any stamp set - even if it only has a few images - and do three cards  with either different techniques or use the stamp in a different way.  Maybe even look at the stamps in the set and see what else I can do with them. I thought this would be a good way to show someone, that may be interested in a particular set, or trying to decide, or thinking a particular set didn't do very much, to think again and see the possibilities....

What a great way to get ideas on all the amazing new product than with a card swap! Organised by one of the Crazy Crafters, Nicole, we had to create a card front using anything from the new Occasions Catalogue or Sale-a-bration products - those are the freebies you get for every $AU90 you spend - and that is soooo easy to do once you see what's  inside the new catalogue! As the name says, there are new designs for all those upcoming occasions - Valentine's, Easter, Mother's  Day,  and almost anything ...

Crazy Crafters blog hop with Dena Rekow

This week we are hopping with Dena Rekow and using her blog  http:// www.thecreativitycave.com/  as inspiration. I spent so long looking through Dena's blog - not because I couldn't find anything, but because I loved so much! In the end I decided to use this card as my inspiration.  I loved the simplicity and the depth created with the different green ink colours used. And here is the card I created. I used the open leaf from Healing Hugs stamp set and stamped it in the colours  Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Poppy Parade and Lemon Lime Twist - such a juicy fruit mix of colours!   I wanted the colours to be uplifting for the sentiment that I used from the Friendly Expressions stamp set.  I embossed the background with the Lovely Floral embossing folder to give added dimension and then mounted the embossed and stamped panels on Pineapple Punch. I cut around the sentiment and layered it with dimensionals. A...
