Shaker challenge #404

What I've been up to this week....

Just Add Ink challenge #404
Just Add a Shaker

The challenge was to create or add a shaker element to your card.

I wanted to think outside the square - literally and try something different from the acetate circle or square that I had done many times before.

The Cake Soiree set create a great opportunity for a different shape with the cake shape die.

I decided to use vellum instead of acetate to give a softer look, where the colours behind blended together.

Here's what I came up with....

Here's how I did it:

I cut out the cake outline using the Sweet Cake Framelits in the centre of a piece of card
I cut the branches from the framelits as well as a couple of stamped buds in the matching colours of the floral topper I was going to use on the cake - Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Calypso Coral.
I snipped all the little ends off the branches to create little dots for the shaker element and added the buds with a few silver sequins

I added the stamped vellum to the space made by the diecut, turned it over and sprinkled the shaker mix within the space.  I then used the cake cut out piece and laid it over to sandwich the shaker mix against a white background.  To seal it all I added another piece of velum over everything.

I added the silver cake stand to the front, stamped the sentiment and then mounted it all on a piece of Rich Razzleberry card.

I mounted it onto the card by using dimensional foam

And lastly, I added the topper which was a pre-cut piece from the embellishment kit.

Love how it turned out and how the shaker mix "colours in" the  stamped flowers.

If you want to try it yourself, you can get all the supplies from my shop.

'Til next time, keep crafting!

Today I wanted to challenge myself to try something a  bit different by showing the versatility of any stamp set - even if it only has a few images - and do three cards  with either different techniques or use the stamp in a different way.  Maybe even look at the stamps in the set and see what else I can do with them. I thought this would be a good way to show someone, that may be interested in a particular set, or trying to decide, or thinking a particular set didn't do very much, to think again and see the possibilities....

Crazy Crafters blog hop with Dena Rekow

This week we are hopping with Dena Rekow and using her blog  http:// www.thecreativitycave.com/  as inspiration. I spent so long looking through Dena's blog - not because I couldn't find anything, but because I loved so much! In the end I decided to use this card as my inspiration.  I loved the simplicity and the depth created with the different green ink colours used. And here is the card I created. I used the open leaf from Healing Hugs stamp set and stamped it in the colours  Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody, Poppy Parade and Lemon Lime Twist - such a juicy fruit mix of colours!   I wanted the colours to be uplifting for the sentiment that I used from the Friendly Expressions stamp set.  I embossed the background with the Lovely Floral embossing folder to give added dimension and then mounted the embossed and stamped panels on Pineapple Punch. I cut around the sentiment and layered it with dimensionals. A...
